Last month, the basketball great joined the podcast Road Trippin’ and discussed the film and how production is going, pointing to the fact that since the majority of the movie is animated, and production is currently working on the animated parts of the film, that production was going more or less as scheduled. “Just like everything in the world, everything is slowed down a little bit, but we’re still on target,” he told the hosts. Space Jam: A New Legacy will also host a star-studded cast including NBA stars Anthony Davis, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, and more, and WNBA stars Diana Taurasi, Cheney Ogwumike and Nneka Ogwumike. Don Cheadle and Sonequa Martin-Green are also attached to the project. Space Jam has been a passion project for Lebron, who made his acting debut in 2015’s Trainwreck as himself and as Bill Hader’s best friend. He’s been attached to the project since 2014, so the sequel has been a long time coming for the MVP Laker. If all continues going to schedule, the film will hit theatres next June, making it something families can look forward to.
